How the PFRA is Scored

Your score is the sum of four components. You must achieve a composite of 75 or higher AND meet the minimum threshold in every component. Failing any single component is an overall fail, regardless of total.

  • Excellent: 90.0 or above
  • Satisfactory: 75.0 – 89.9
  • Unsatisfactory: Below 75.0

Exercise Options & Waivers

You choose one option per component before test day. Options are equal — pick what suits your conditioning.

  • Strength: Standard push-ups (1 min) or Hand-release push-ups (2 min)
  • Core: Sit-ups, Cross-leg reverse crunches, or Forearm plank
  • Cardio: 2-mile run or 20m HAMR. The 2km walk requires prior medical justification from your unit UFPM and is pass/fail only.

Body Composition (WHtR)

Waist-to-Height Ratio replaces the old tape test. Divide your waist measurement (at the navel) by your height — both in inches.

  • Can be measured up to 5 days before the rest of the test
  • A ratio of 0.60 or above = 0 points and automatic component failure
  • It is technically possible to fail body comp and still pass overall if you max all other components

AFSPECWAR / EOD Standards

Airmen in Special Warfare (TACP, PJ, CCT, SR, STO, SOWT) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal career fields are assessed under separate, higher occupational-specific standards. This calculator covers the standard PFRA only.
